Carers

Action for Carers Surrey

There are currently around 108,000 carers who live and care in Surrey, and an estimated 14,000 young carers under the age of 18.

Action for Carers Surrey champions carers’ rights and makes sure carers’ opinions and experiences are known to the decision-makers.We provide some practical Surrey-wide services to carers ourselves and signpost carers to the people and places who can offer other essential specialist support.


Surrey Young Carers

Surrey Young Carers supports young carers aged under 18 by giving you information, advice and guidance, giving you someone to talk to and providing activities for ‘downtime’, fun, and a chance to talk to others and make new friends.

Child Health

CSH Surrey Child Health Clinics

CSH Surrey child health clinics are an opportunity for parents and carers to access advice and support for themselves and children under 1 year old. You will be seen, usually at home, by a health visitor when your baby is aged from 10-14 days. After that, until your baby is 16 weeks old, you can see us at our Early Weeks Support sessions. The times of these sessions are available from your local clinic or Health Visitor. No appointment is needed you can just drop in.


Health and Wellbeing Surrey CAMHS

CAMHS is the child and adolescent mental health service in Surrey – also known as Mindsight Surrey CAMHS. We promote emotional wellbeing and deliver preventative mental health services and treatment to children and young people with mental health problems.


West Surrey Children’s Specialist Nursing Service

We are a team of trained nurses who have a range of essential skills that ensure we can respond to the needs of children as they develop.


Chicken Pox

Chickenpox is a mild and common childhood illness that most children catch at some point.


Fever in Children

A fever is a high temperature. As a general rule, in children, a temperature of over 37.5C (99.5F) is a fever.


Hand Foot and Mouth Disease

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a viral infection that can affect young children.


Headlice

Head lice are tiny insects that live in human hair. They’re particularly common in children.

Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care Ltd is a confidential, non-judgemental service. We are always available to listen. We explain the options and services available and can refer you to treatment services.

SDAC offers a 24 hour manned confidential help line giving support and information to drug and alcohol users, their families and friends, in the County of Surrey. We are ready to receive calls at any time of the day or night for 365 days of the year, thereby providing a continuous service for those in need of help with addiction problems. We are registered charity and our services are free of charge.

The Sound Doctor mission is to improve the quality of life for people with long-term mental and physical health problems by educating them, their carers and their healthcare professionals about the most effective ways of managing their conditions.

Walking for Health Groups

A number of organised health walks take place near to where you live. Walking can provide lots of healthy benefits! It can make you feel good, give you more energy, reduce stress and help you sleep better. It can help keep your heart healthy, reduce blood pressure and help you to manage your weight.


Surrey Ramblers

Surrey is a great place to go walking. The most wooded county in England offers some of South East England’s most beautiful and accessible countryside.

There are 16 Ramblers’ groups in Surrey Area, which covers part of South and South West London as well as the county. Each group organises two or more walks every week.

Contact Armed Forces

Contact is a group of military charities who have come together with the NHS, the MOD and Royal College of Psychiatrists to ensure that the best mental health support possible is available to those who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families.

They providing multiple voluntary group contacts for anyone affected by PTSD.


London Veterans Service

Transition, Intervention and Liaison (TIL) Veterans mental health service London and South East are a free NHS mental health service for all ex-serving members of the British Armed Forces living in or registered with a GP in London, Greater London, East and West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Medway.

They offer support to all former members of the British Armed Forces from all ranks who have received one day’s pay or more in the Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines or Royal Air Force.

They also support any veteran who has served with the Army Reserves, Royal Navy Reserves, Royal Marine Reserves or Royal Air Force Reserves.

Veterans can refer themselves directly to this service or by referred by you GP.
